Inspirasi.update.com, Jakarta – PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (PT Vale) again won the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA) award in 2023.
On a corporate scale, PT Vale is the only mining company, out of only three companies in Indonesia, to win the 2023 ASRA award.
PT Vale received silver in the Asia’s Best Sustainability Report (CEO Letter) category. The company previously won bronze in the same category at the 6th ASRA. This award is in PT Vale’s ninth year.
PT Vale competed with leading companies in 15 countries to win this award.
“This award is proof of the company’s commitment to reporting its sustainability implementation in a transparent and accountable manner.
“Good-quality reports come from company programs that are proven to address sustainability issues,” said Febriany Eddy, CEO and President Director of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk.
Febriany explained that this award aligns with Vale’s values, namely open and transparent dialogue. For PT Vale, implementing sustainable mining practices is essential.
Additionally, exposure or publication of sustainable mining practices is no less important. Therefore, every year, PT Vale pays serious attention to compiling a sustainability report, which is open and transparent and can also be a reflection or learning tool and a form of responsibility for program implementation to the community.
“On behalf of PT Vale, I would like to express my gratitude for the appreciation given; of course, this achievement has motivated us to make better efforts in implementing sustainability programs, which are PT Vale’s core values,” he explained.
Receiving recognition from ASRA is a significant achievement for a company. The winners are selected through a rigorous evaluation involving three rounds of judging and reputation checks.
“ASRA chose the winners based on a strict selection of the implementation of sustainability in Asia. Choosing the best report becomes more difficult every year because it has to be thorough and data-based. We must see sustainability in each report reflecting increased work and impact as well as transparency,” said Juri ASRA, Managing Director of Beyond Business Ltd, Elaine Cohen.
ASRA founder and Managing Director of CSRWorks Rajesh Chhabara assessed that PT Vale had demonstrated a solid commitment to high-quality sustainability reporting.
“Their sustainability report sets the standard; the report must be transparent about managing significant sustainability impacts, risks and opportunities,” he said.
Sustainability reporting enables companies to assess and communicate their sustainability performance, manage risks, build trust with stakeholders, and align business strategies with stakeholder expectations.
Recognition of the best sustainability reports provides a competitive advantage and contributes to improved financial results and broader access to capital.
Therefore, transparent sustainability reporting is essential to create sustainable value for stakeholders and shareholders.
ASRA is a non-profit project founded in 2015 by CSRWorks International, a Singaporean company providing sustainability services. It offers a prestigious platform for businesses to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.
